What a visibility session feels like on a live inbound day
We start before first appointment, when the board still shows yesterday’s leftovers. Those leftovers are more honest than a cleaned sample day. If a pallet sat in staging overnight, it stays on the board until someone owns a location.
During the session we do not pause inbound to “capture a clean picture.” The point is to watch how the supervisor actually writes exceptions: short ship, damaged, no PO, driver early.
After the wave, we rewrite two column headers that nobody used and drop one color that meant three different things. The board should be readable by a new temp at 06:00 without a legend the size of a work instruction.
If the site later uses Packagegridline’s local analytical utility to keep a personal copy of those exception notes, that copy stays on the machine where it was written. It is a record-keeping aid, not a second warehouse system.
